GranVida is COLD!!!!

Winter 2013/14

GranVida is COLD!!!!!  She's shrink-wrapped and parked just inside the entrance to our home marina in Penetangishene.
Thar she waits.  Not so patiently.  It will be spring tomorrow and we're chomping at the bit to get back on her.

In the meantime we're busy disassembling our land-locked life.   Properties are for sale. Retirement details are in full swing.  We're figuring out the logistics for living on board: insurance, how to get mail, all the paperwork involved.  The final preparations on the boat won't get in full swing until we can get onto her, but we're researching: inverters, refrigeration options, windlasses and we have a multitude of little projects planned.

Many details to sort out and get in place in the next few months.  Sooooo exciting!!!!!

Think spring... think spring... think spring....

Habby Bear

Preparations 2013

You know the travelocity gnome?  Well, we have Hab Bear.

Habby takes in the view
Hockey reigns supreme in our neck of the woods.  Jeff is a Toronto Maple Leafs fan while his buddy John (as in crew extraordinaire from a previous post) is a Montreal Canadiens (Habs) fan....  which, if you follow hockey at all, you're aware would lead to an inevitable spirited rivalry.

Habby's new car
As a boat warming gift, John presented Jeff with "Hab Bear", a little stuffed animal dressed in a Hab uniform.  Poor little Habby was quickly strapped to the flag pole and stayed there for months. Since then Habby has enjoyed a thrilling career as our travel mascot.  Jeff has made it his mission to photograph the good boating life through Habby's eyes, (and somehow convince complete strangers to participate) and then send the pics home to John.  That little Bear has seen his share of action:
Habby speaks the truth
Habby finds romance
Habby takes a helicopter ride
Habby gets arrested
Whoo-hoo. Habby goes seadooing
Habby crashes a tailgating party

Habby goes to jail

Habby takes in an NHL game
