We decided to wind down the last few weeks of our 2017/18 southern season in Fort Myers with good friends. We took a dock for a week, got our car out of storage and just relaxed, taking in all the events Fort Myers offers and daily "docktails" at "the wall". "The Wall" is really just a centrally located dock alongside friends Janice and Russ' boat where they have strategically placed chairs. Folks often gather there for some social time.

Jeff is eyeing a truck just like this back home.
He already has the appointment set to take a look at it. |
We hauled out and tucked the boat away for her summer's nap quickly and without a hitch. It's starting to feel almost routine. A lovely, leisurely drive home was enjoyed, stopping often to check out the sights.
We arrived back home to find that spring had not yet sprung, with the bay still firmly covered in ice. This does not make for the smooth launching of boats! The guys would get out there in the tug, trying to break up the ice. Can't rush Mother Nature, boys. Once it melts we'll put in another summer: Jeff working at the marina; me spending time with the grandkids and puttering in the garden and both us us running our little Airbnb. Not a bad gig.
Jeff picked up his new toy, a 1970 C20 Chevy truck on our drive home. He's quite enamored with it.

Still ice on the bay. Glad to be in the house instead of on a boat. |
