At 8:37 this morning, with me a little weepy at the prospect
of leaving my grandbabies behind, we cast-off our lines and slipped out of
Harbour West Marina, Penetanguishene, ON, our home port. After years of planning, months of busy
preparation, days of partying and saying our good-byes, our great loop
adventure officially begins.
The morning is overcast and chilly but the winds are light
and the water is calm. At the point of
this writing we’re an hour into the trip and all’s well. Our mood is calm and joyful. I sit and watch the landscape drift by and I'm perpetually awestruck by the picturesque
vistas of small granite islands sprouting twisted, windswept pines. Everywhere I looks like a scene lifted from painting.
Beeee-autiful!
Later today we’ll anchor in a quiet bay,
explore a bit, cook up something tasty for dinner, play some cards and tomorrow do it all
again. This will be our routine for
several days until we hit our first town, which will be either Killarney or
Little Current, depending on our (and mother nature’s) mood. So far seeming like a Gran Vida to me!
B-bye Harbour West. |
