Summer, 2015
Gran Vida remains safely stored on land in North Carolina. She's got a great place for her summer nap in an out of the way, hurricane safe boatyard on the Cape Fear River. We have her well tucked in with a dehumidifier and fan running 24/7.
As for us, we are at home in Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada, getting our friends and family fix. Jeff is enjoying his new position as Harbour Master of our town docks (The Historic Port of Penetanguishene) and he has the facility looking great and running smooth as silk while having a great time doing it. Poised at the end of the Trent-Severn waterway just a hop, skip and a jump off the small craft route through Georgian Bay's 30,000 islands, we've enjoyed lots of looper action, with a steady stream of loopers dropping in to visit and re-provision. It's been fun!
As Gran Vida has been stored in the South and our house here in Canada has tenants in it we needed a place to live for the summer. We picked up another boat that is older with plenty of room and nautical charm. Introducing Wewena (which we were told means "take it easy" in Ojibway). The captain would like everyone to note that the correct pronunciation is "We-WHEN-ah" NOT "Wee-WEEN-ah". A new name is quite possibly in the future. We're using it mostly as a floating cottage, taking it out only periodically and for short distances to explore the multitude of great anchorages right in the neighbourhood.
As summer winds down our plans are in full swing again, getting ready to head south to enjoy another winter cruising in warm southern waters.

Hi Jeff and Susan, been a long time since our card game anchored in the Turnbulls. Exciting to hear your adventures south are going fine and hope to bump into you this winter. Miriam and I are just finishing the Erie Canal and can't wait to put Odyessys sails on in a few days.
Then cruise south with a touch of fall at our heels. Where will you be this winter?
Jamie
Hi Jamie and Miriam! It's been a while. Nice to hear from you. You're on your way... Great!
Jeff's contract goes until October 31. We'll fly back to our boat in North Carolina (Wilmington) very early in November (like, early on the 1st) and after getting the boat ready head south from there. We'll probably hang out in the keys for a few months, then up the west coast of Florida....but everything is subject to change. Our plans are always in pencil.
Hope to catch up with you somewhere down there. Keep in touch!
Sue & Jeff.
