Nawlins, Day Two
We're so conditioned to getting up early that ready or not, by 7:00 a.m. we were up and at 'em. After looong hot showers we checked out and found ourselves a nice little breakfast joint around the corner. The agenda for the day was the WW2 Museum.
The museum is relatively new (2002) and quite impressive. It focuses on the U.S. contribution to the allies' victory in the war. It takes up several blocks and so far has three completed buildings, with two more scheduled to open later this year. One of the newer exhibits is a 45 minute "4D" movie on the history of the war, narrated by Tom Hanks. There were many interactive exhibits throughout and a nice touch was the human element shown through many two minute personal stories told by veterans on video.
It took the whole day to get through the museum and after our late night and early morning, by late afternoon we were both dragging our heals a bit. Nevertheless, it was an interesting day and well worth a visit.
