Charlevoix

Stats:
Harbor Springs to Charlevoix 7:30 - 11:30 18 nautical miles

We had a good forecast for the day so we got up early and took off right away.  Unfortunately, it wasn't as smooth as they had predicted.  The seas were confused, with good sized waves going in several directions, making the ride quite uncomfortable. We had hoped to lay down some miles today but it was not to be.  We deferred to plan B and pulled into the tourist town of Charlevoix.  Like all the places we've seen in Michigan so far, they have a beautiful waterfront facility, lots of boutiques, eateries and shops.

We anchored in West Charlevoix Lake, just past the mooring field in 17 feet of unusually green water.  The day was spent doing laundry and shopping by dinghy, napping, checking out the town and right now I'm watching the local news on tv.  We got it all on Gran Vida!!

We're crossing our fingers that the winds will slow down...  sometime.  We'll just have to hop from small port to small port down the East coast of Lake Michigan.  There's one every twenty miles or so.  And if we ever get a good travel day, we'll put in a long day and get as far as we can.   I guess this is why folks say that one should plan to be off Lake Michigan by Labour Day.

Yikes! Big Ferry chasing us down the channel into Charlevoix
