Barkley Lake, again

October 12, 2014

Stats:
Clarksville, MM 125 to Somewhere on Barkley Lake MM52. 73 miles. 8:00-5:00.

Not much to say today.  We retraced our route back from Clarksville to Barkley Lake.  It was a pleasant day with our usual shtick:  turns on the helm, reading, chores, taking pictures, chatting, eating healthy and yummy meals.

This evening we anchored in a lovely spot.  Watched the sunset over a delicious dinner and now we’ll snuggle in for a movie.

We’ve been having a few mechanical issues that Jeff has been pondering and working hard to solve.  Here’s Jeff to explain….

Jeff:  We have had an oil consumption problem out of the blue. Dear old Pearl (pet name for our Perkins engine) has been going through more oil than our siblings did in the seventies. Today I found a faulty oil sensor that is dripping oil and once replaced will reduce the consumption dramatically.

So there you have it folks.  Jeff’s been down in the hole in the floor for awhile but he’s got it figured.  We have a few other jobs to complete while at dock, impeller change, fuel filter etc.  But all’s good, we hope.  We were worried about it for a bit.  She’s an old girl, Pearl, and she’s got a job to do.

There are more herons down here than at a family reunion!

                                                                                       This one is for John
