Key West - Day Four? Five? We're Not Sure.

It took some figuring (we tend to lose track of dates) but it appears we’ve been in Key West for one week.  What a blast we’ve had!  We spent most of that time on a mooring ball, dinghying into town in the late afternoon and then home again to the boat after dark, laughing at the multitude of little flying fish jumping all around us and picking our way through the mooring field trying to find our boat in the dark.  We've met many nice people and made many great memories.

Key West is a fun place to be.  It definitely has a lot to offer to tourists – from museums and parks to bars and a busy night-life scene.  Every afternoon a crowd gathers on Mallory Square for the sunset celebration.  There are street performers and live music everywhere. Then, as the sun dips into the ocean, everyone stops, lines the shore to watch and cheer.  It’s a great, fun vibe.

Derek and Kristen, our friends from Orillia, came down for a visit.  For their visit we moved into town to Galleon Resort and Marina and lived it up, enjoying the pool, hot tub, fantastic location right in the thick of things and the resort atmosphere.  The evening was spent visiting on the boat, taking in the sights and checking out some of Key West’s, ahem, finer watering holes.  The next day we took Derek and Kristen out on the boat and they had their traditional pictures taken at the helm.

.
Tomorrow, ready or not, is our turn around day.  We will start heading North.  We’re anchored not too far from town and the plan is to get up early, weigh anchor and start putting along.  Homeward bound.  It will be hard to leave Key West as we’ve only just scratched the surface of all there is to do here.  We hope to be back one day.

We're heading towards Lake Worth tonight to anchor. Not sure how far we'll make it. We'll just drop the hook when we get tired. Hoping to catch up with you along the way! Sue
